Business Plan — Book Club Society (BCS)
Polished and organized version of your plan. This lives here so members and partners can read the club's mission and strategy.
Welcome
Book Club Society (BCS) is a welcoming community for readers and aspiring writers. We bring people together to read, discuss, and grow through shared literary experiences. Members can join in person through the Dover Public Library or online via Sora and other platforms.
Rules & Standards
BCS fosters a respectful, inclusive environment. Membership is open to anyone who shares a genuine interest in reading and discussion. Meetings are scheduled in advance; members are encouraged to attend punctually and participate constructively. Book selection is democratic, and discussions must remain civil and supportive. Privacy is respected: personal information shared within the club stays within the club unless explicit consent is given.
Mission Statement
BCS exists to re-engage young readers, build community, and create a safe space for conversation and learning. We aim to make reading social, accessible, and fun—helping members develop critical thinking, empathy, and lifelong reading habits.
Problem & Solution
Many young people spend excessive time on screens, which can reduce reading time and attention. BCS offers an alternative: structured, social reading experiences that encourage imagination, literacy, and community. Through book clubs, reading challenges, and interactive sessions, we provide a balanced, enriching alternative to passive screen time.
Vision, Legal Structure & Core Values
BCS envisions a vibrant, inclusive community of readers. We recommend establishing BCS as a nonprofit to access grants and donations. Core values include dignity, inclusion, empowerment, and collaboration. We will partner with local schools and libraries to expand reach and impact.
Organization & Management
BCS will be coordinated by a Book Club Coordinator who manages schedules, reading lists, and communications. Supporting roles include a secretary, social media manager, and volunteer discussion leaders. Clear responsibilities and delegation will ensure smooth operations.
Target Population
BCS primarily serves K–12 students in Delaware, offering age-appropriate reading tracks and activities. We will tailor content and discussions to different reading levels and collaborate with local educational partners to reach a broad audience.
Marketing & Outreach
We will build an online presence with a website and social media, attend local events, and partner with libraries and schools. Email campaigns, testimonials, and author events will help attract and retain members.
Measuring Impact
BCS will track participation, meeting frequency, and diversity of book selections. Surveys and partner feedback will provide qualitative insights. We will review metrics regularly and adapt programming to maximize impact.
Call to Action
Join BCS to discover new books, meet fellow readers, and help shape our club. Sign up for meetings, suggest titles, and invite friends. Together we’ll build a stronger reading community.
About Us
BCS was developed by Brayden & Nevaeh Butcher. We are committed to creating a welcoming, educational, and fun environment for readers of all ages.
